SABIYHA LOVE ME ALONE

‘Love Me Alone’ is the latest effort from British-Guyanese newcomer Sabiyha. The pounding bass drum and delicate countermelodies that kick the tune off juxtapose each other, leaving the London-based singer’s voice to take centre stage alongside her own acrobatic harmonies. The dancehall influence is rife throughout, while the track was written in reference to Sabiyha’s own experiences in toxic relationships: “I'm someone who embraces sexuality, however, that does not give people a free pass to treat me like an object. The behaviour of the men I was meeting made me feel 'like poison', assuming I’m someone that I’m not.” This track comes soon after her debut track ‘Choorlie’ impressed audiences, and we’re sure to see a series of empowering new tracks over the coming months. - Dan Peeke
